re: Gigawatt Points Loot System Details

Hey all, this is just going to be a post outlining the loot system we'll be using here in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I ask that everyone read it and reply with /sign so that they understand how the loot system will work, if you have any questions after reading the post, feel free to get in contact with myself, Sarachia or Mythmaker via Mumble, PM or in game message.
Name: Gigawatt Points (a heavily modified zero-sum DKP model)
How it works:
You get points for doing various things in a raid, and when an item drops, say Bounty Hunter Tank armor, we would go down the list of those who are Bounty Hunter Tanks from most to least points, and if someone takes the item, their points go down to zero.
How you gain points:
1 point for showing up to raid call on time with all of the appropriate items which includes medpacks, stims and adrenals, if you are worried about the cost of buying all of these items, you can contact any of our guild's BioChem masters to have them make them for you, most likely at pure material cost. This is to reward those who show up prepared and don't hold back the whole raid by needing to go get materials together, therefore giving us more time of actual raiding, as opposed to waiting on one or two individuals to get medpacks, stims, etc. together.
1 point for downing a boss.
A few caveats about the point system, if you showed up to the raid build time and weren't chosen to go on the raid for any reason, whether there were too many tanks, too many healers, etc, but were not taken and you are considered a "raid ready" character, as long as you remain on standby, that is stay IN the raid channel for the entirety of the raid and make yourself available as a replacement if someone drops, you will also receive points as if you were a part of the raid. Again, you have to stay on Mumble the entire raid time, you can go into warfronts, etc. you just need to be able to get into the Operation/Raid within 10 minutes so people are not waiting on the replacement.
Second point, if we spilt up into multiple 8 mans on any given night/week in Star Wars: The Old Republic for the same difficulty of the same raid, points will be awarded to ALL 8 mans in that difficulty/raid of the group that got the furthest. Say Raid A downed all 6 bosses, but Raid B only managed to do 2 and Raid C only downed 1. All three raids would get +7 points assuming they showed up on time/prepared as well. Just because you couldn't be available on the night where the best geared people were available shouldn't mean you should fall behind in points and never get gear.
Currently those are the only way people gain points, we may amend this section later.
Ways you lose points:
Getting gear. That's it. There is no point decay, and your points never become useless, use them how you see fit, but keep in mind they go to zero every time you take a piece of gear.
End notes:
First, points will be given out at the end of raids, but your points will drop immediately to prevent the same person from getting first choice on every piece of gear.
Second, there is currently no loot system set up for "Legendary Loot" as according to everything I can find regarding the loot in raids, it doesn't exist. Everything raids drop is purple loot.
Last, and this is just a general courtesy thing, if you know you have to leave at a certain time, try to let the raid leader know this. We understand unexpected things happen and you may have to leave suddenly, but if you have plans to meet people at 10 pm, try not to go on a raid that starts at 9 pm, it's just not very considerate to those you may make sit out and then the whole raid who will have to wait on replacements, etc.
Thank you,
CgSquall
